I’m New to Faith Resources

Prayer of Commitment

Whether you’re choosing faith in Jesus Christ for the first time or making a fresh commitment to follow Him, you can begin that journey today by using this prayer:

Dear Jesus

I believe you are God’s Son, that you died for my sins and rose from the dead.
I know that I’ve done wrong – please forgive me.
I choose to turn away from my old life.
I invite you to come into my heart by the power of Your Holy Spirit.
I receive your peace and forgiveness.
Help me to trust and follow you as my Lord and Saviour for the rest of my life.

Amen

Why Jesus?

Many people today are puzzled about Jesus.
Why is there so much interest in a person born 2,000 years ago?
Why are so many people excited about Jesus?
Why do we need him?
Why did he come?
Why did he die?
Why should anyone bother to find out?

First Steps

  1. Read the Bible

A good place to start is in the first four books in the New Testament, known as the Gospels - perhaps Mark or John. If you haven’t got a Bible, there’s a free app for your phone/tablet called the ‘YouVersion Bible’ app. Download it here!

Here’s a great Bible plan on the YouVersion Bible app to get you started as a new believer. Read it here!

2. Pray

Building a relationship with God though prayer and worship is important. ‘trypraying’ is a great resource to get you started - you can use either their website or download the app.

3. Connect with Church

Whether you decide to join us here at New Life or choose to worship elsewhere - make sure you connect with a good local church and tell them you’ve recently chosen to become a follower of Jesus. They should be able to help you in your next steps and getting involved in ‘church life’.

Join an Alpha Course!

Our next Alpha course is coming soon! If you’re not sure what to expect from the course, feel free to come to the first session before committing to the whole course. The evening starts with a light meal. The course runs weekly.

Venue: New Life Church. Mareham Lane, Sleaford, NG34 7JP

But what is Alpha?

Alpha is a place to ask the big questions of life, faith and meaning. Typically run over ten weeks, Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each session looks at a different aspect of faith and is designed to create conversation. It’s ideal for those who have questions about Christianity and those new to it.
