This is a Befriending Scheme responding to the high demand for community-based opportunities for social contact amongst older people. It is a free and confidential service to support senior citizens in making the most of their life experience into old age. The aim of Evergreen Befrienders is to step in and become a support person. This registered charity provides a second hand clothes shop and dress agency and also a cosy, friendly coffee shop where tea and coffee, homemade cakes, soups, jackets, paninis and much more are provided at very reasonable prices. They are located at 30 Boston Road, Sleaford.
New Life Church currently sits on the ‘NKDC Homelessness Forum’ which brings together local representatives from different agencies to consider the issues affecting people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness with an aim to improve the services they receive and options available to them.
From 10:30pm on Saturday night to 2am in the early hours of Sunday morning, providing care for those who have been in the pubs and clubs and want a safe place to wait for a taxi or a lift home, for those who want a cup of coffee before they leave the town centre, for those who might have had a row with a friend or partner and need someone to talk to.
